Thank you for visiting the home page for the ITF-USA, the official governing body for the International Taekwon-Do Federation in the United States.  Our mission, as a non-profit and democratically-structured organization, is to foster the teaching and art of traditional Taekwon-Do in the United States, as handed down by our founder General Choi, Hong Hi.

Taekwon-Do has undergone tremendous evolution since its inception at the hands of General Choi in 1955 as he perfected the art while leading the 29th Division of the Korean Army (also known as The First Division).   In 1962, I started training under Master Nam-Tae-Hi, 7th dan and leader of the 1st group of Taekwon-do Masters to Vietnam.  I later became a direct student of the General in 1967, and was fortunate enough to work with him to expand the art into Vietnam, as well as the United States.  Throughout its evolution over the last 50 years, however, our art has remained true to its core principles (Read More)

Dear ITF-USA Membership

We are pleased to announce a new addition to the ITF-USA website, the Member Spotlight.  This feature of our website will feature members of the ITF-USA that embody the spirit and tenets of Taekwon-Do in their daily lives, through their achievements in both life and Taekwon-Do, and through their contributions to the community.  The selected Spotlight members may be dan holders, color belts, even schools/groups of students that exemplify those principles that we hold so dear and are building the ITF-USA upon.

To facilitate our ability to feature as many of these deserving martial artists as possible, we would like to solicit your help in nominating individuals or groups from your school or region that exhibit these characteristics.  This might be a student that has overcome a significant challenge or obstacle; it may be a student or group of students that devoted their time and abilities on behalf of others; it might be a student who has dedicated themselves to Taekwon-Do and excelled in national or international competition.  All of these are examples of worthy submissions.
