Thank you for visiting the home page for the ITF-USA, the official governing body for the International Taekwon-Do Federation in the United States.  Our mission, as a non-profit and democratically-structured organization, is to foster the teaching and art of traditional Taekwon-Do in the United States, as handed down by our founder General Choi, Hong Hi.

Taekwon-Do has undergone tremendous evolution since its inception at the hands of General Choi in 1955 as he perfected the art while leading the 29th Division of the Korean Army (also known as The First Division).   In 1962, I started training under Master Nam-Tae-Hi, 7th dan and leader of the 1st group of Taekwon-do Masters to Vietnam.  I later became a direct student of the General in 1967, and was fortunate enough to work with him to expand the art into Vietnam, as well as the United States.  Throughout its evolution over the last 50 years, however, our art has remained true to its core principles
  • Courtesy
  • Integrity
  • Perseverance
  • Self Control
  • Indomitable Spirit
as well as retaining a solid foundation in the core composition of Taekwon-Do
  •  Conditioning
  •  Fundamentals
  • Patterns
  • Sparring
  • Self Defense
It is adherence to these roots that has kept the ITF strong throughout times of both growth and turbulence.

Our objective is to provide a solid foundation and support system for our members, in the form of teaching, access to international resources, and a strong community in Taekwon-Do.  We welcome the input and feedback of our members as we continually grow and adapt to the changing face of our times.

I trust that you'll find the information on this site helpful, and return often to check for updates.   Please feel free to share your thoughts with us directly.

Taekwon!
